CTM Festival Parterns With SHAPE+ Platform For 2023

Four artists connected to this year's roster, which supports new and upcoming artists, are playing the Berlin festival this week

CTM festival has linked up with the Creative Europe-supported SHAPE+ platform for a showcase of new and upcoming artists at this year’s edition of the Berlin event.

The partnership will see sound artist Gerard Lebik and cellist Judith Hamann, both part of this year’s SHAPE+ roster, link up with Polish composer Aleksandra Słyż at MONOM, Berlin’s center for spatial sound, for a special performance. Two other 2023 SHAPE+ artists, in choreographer Franka Marlene Foth and dancer Janan Laubscher, are also part of this year’s CTM lineup, and they will collaborate on a new performance with producer NZIRIA.

Unlike the set of SHAPE+ artists that are announced as part of the scheme at the beginning of each year via collective voting, these four artists have been selected by CTM to be involved in the partnership, with a number of other festivals also set to curate their own SHAPE+ showcases.

SHAPE+ describes itself as a "European platform for innovative music and audiovisual art co-financed by the Creative Europe programme." It aims to support "emerging talent, connecting them to local communities and audiences through collaborative residencies with multiple artistic outcomes, commissioned artworks, as well as one-off presentations and performances."

CTM is currently ongoing in Berlin, taking place across a number of venues until February 5. Find out more about the festival here.
