Orbital Share New Track With Sleaford Mods, ‘Dirty Rat’

It's lifted from Orbital's forthcoming album, 'Optical Delusion'

Orbital have shared details of a new album and shared a collaborative track with Sleaford Mods called ‘Dirty Rat’.

The new cut is the first song to be unveiled from Orbital’s new record, Optical Delusion, which is their first album of all-new material since 2018’s Monsters Exist. The new LP features guest artists on most of the tracks, with the likes of Penelope Isles, Anna B Savage, The Little Pest, Dina Ipavic, Coppe and The Mediaeval Baebes also appearing across the record.

‘Dirty Rat’, which you can watch a video for above, was produced by Orbital together with Sleaford Mods’ Andrew Fearn. The Mods’ Jason Williamson also contributes vocals to the track. Speaking about the themes in a statement, Orbital’s Phil Hartnoll said: "I love Jason’s presence. He’s just brilliant and this is an old-school dance music vibe, with bits of Cabaret Voltaire and even The Shamen in it. And it’s a really simple statement; you voted for them, so take responsibility for your own actions."

ACP will release Optical Delusion on February 17, 2023.
