Canadian vocalist and producer Eden Samara has shared details of her debut album, Rough Night.
Set for release on Local Action, the eight-track record was written and produced mostly by Samara and her production partner Ryan Pierre. It also includes guest production from UK artists such as Loraine James, Call Super, Shanti Celeste and TSVI, as well as Canadian DJ and producer Peach. You can listen to three tracks from the album – ‘The Local’, ‘D4M’ and ‘Madonna’ – just below.
"Rough Night offers eight scenes that, through music, tell my own ‘coming of age’ story. I think well into our adulthood we still go through cycles of losing ourselves and finding ourselves again, so the album encompasses a cycle of growing pains, then coming out the other end where one might appear the same but inside something has shifted.
"This record was also an important part of discovering myself as an artist and how I make music. I wanted the album as a whole to sound a bit unpolished, like real people making music with little to no equipment and a lot of heart. It sounds like a bedroom record because it was me figuring out how to engineer, comp, and produce and the mistakes that come with learning. You can hear them all in the record and I’m proud of them."
The announcement of Rough Night follows on from Samara appearing as a guest vocalist on albums by Loraine James and Parris in 2021.
Local Action will release Rough Night on November 1, 2022.
