Nyege Nyege Festival is moving to a new, bigger site for its return edition later this year.
The Uganda festival, taking place this year for the first time since 2019 following cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemics, will take over a new site at Itanda Falls on the banks of the River Nile. The site is said to be five times the size of the festival’s previous location.
As ever, the festival’s lineup will feature a number of acts from the Nyege Nyege Tapes label roster, as well as from across Africa, including the likes of Kampire, MC Yallah, DJ Travella and Adomaa. DJ Znobia, a legendary figure in the kuduro music scene, will also perform outside of his native Angola for the first time in 15 years.
The lineup, which takes in more than 300 artists overall, also features a number of acts from across Europe and the US, including DJ Marcelle, Zoë Mc Pherson, Juliana Huxtable and Low Jack. All of the artists on the bill will play across seven stages at the festival.
Outside of the music programme, the festival will offer guests a chance to take part in activities such as bungee jumping and rafting, while there will also be a number of visual art installations on display.
Nyege Nyege Festival will take place from September 15 to 18, 2022. Find more information here.
