‘Prince And The Revolution: Live’ Set For Multi-Format Reissue

A remastered edition of the 1985 performance will be released across CD, vinyl, Blu-ray and digital formats

The Prince Estate is giving Prince And The Revolution: Live a multi-format reissue.

The original performance was captured in March 1985 in Syracuse, New York, during the Purple Rain tour. It was broadcast live to millions via satellite and later released as the concert film Prince And The Revolution: Live, and now the visuals and audio from the film have been remastered and digitally enhanced for this new reissue. You can watch a video of ‘Let’s Go Crazy’, lifted from the film, above.

The new edition of Prince And The Revolution: Live will see it made available across CD, vinyl and Blu-ray formats for the first time, while it will also be released digitally too. The remastered audio of the film will be issued as a 3xLP set, 2xCD release, and on digital platforms. For the Blu-ray release, the original video of Prince & The Revolution’s set has been rescanned, restored and colour-corrected. The original multitrack audio master reels have also been remixed and remastered onto Blu-ray video, after recently being discovered in Prince’s Paisley Park vault.

Additionally, there will be a deluxe edition collector’s edition of the release, which will include the remixed and remastered audio pressed onto three coloured LPs, the CD edition, the Blu-ray video, a 44-page book filled with never-before-seen photos of the Purple Rain tour, new liner notes and other ephemera.

Reflecting on the concert, The Revolution’s BrownMark said in a press release: "Listening back to that Syracuse show, I’m like, ‘Wow, we sound like a freight train just coming out of nowhere’. That was powerful. I’ve been to a lot of concerts, and I’ve never seen anything like that."

Sony Legacy will release Prince And The Revolution: Live on June 3, 2022.
