Destroyer Reveals New Album, ‘LABYRINTHITIS’

He's also unveiled a video for lead cut 'Tintoretto, It's For You'

Destroyer has a new album on the way.

Titled LABYRINTHITIS, the album was mostly written across 2020, and recorded last spring during a COVID-19 lockdown. Destroyer, AKA Dan Bejar, worked on the album with longtime collaborator John Collins, with the pair exchanging ideas back and forth from their respective locations: Bejar at home in Vancouver, and Collins on Galiano Island. You can watch a video for the album’s lead cut, ‘Tintoretto, It’s For You’, above.

Speaking about the song in a statement, Bejar said: "I had an idea of writing a couple lines on the idea of ‘mystery’ and ‘going nowhere’, as they are two of my favourite themes. That and the Grim Reaper and being pursued by some silent, unnamable thing that constantly lurks one foot to the left of you. Especially as the world’s decay becomes increasingly less abstract. Also wanted to write on the romance of terror. The song ‘Tintoretto, It’s For You’ speaks to all these things, oddly enough so does the video."

Merge will release LABYRINTHITIS on March 25, 2022.
