Ryuichi Sakamoto Shares New Version Of YMO’s ‘Tong Poo’

The new arrangement was created for the unveiling of Japanese fashion house Junya Watanabe's Spring/Summer 2022 collection

Ryuichi Sakamoto has released a new arrangement of ‘Tong Poo’, the 1978 Yellow Magic Orchestra track.

The new version was made especially for Japanese fashion house Junya Watanabe, with the track receiving its premiere during the unveiling of the designer’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection. It marks the second time Sakamoto has reworked the track, having previously reproduced it on piano in 1999 on ‘Energy Flow (BTTB)’. You can listen to ‘Tong Poo For Junya Watanabe’ just below, and watch footage from Junya Watanabe’s show above.
