Melt Yourself Down Detail New LP, ‘Pray For Me I Don’t Fit In’

The group's fourth studio album is out in February

Melt Yourself Down have revealed details of a new album, Pray For Me I Don’t Fit In.

Set for release in February, the new record is the band’s second for Decca Records, following on from 2020’s 100% Yes. Of the band’s approach to the album, saxophonist Pete Wareham said in a statement: "We don’t fit the archetype. This has felt like a problem, for too long, but poetry and art rely on exploiting archetypes. Now we understand that being who we are is all we have and, if that doesn’t fit, so be it." You can listen to the album’s title track above.

Speaking about the song, vocalist Kushal Gaya said: "In everything I create there is a tension between wanting to fit in, to feel included and the fear of losing my culture or forgetting where I am from; the refusal to fit in whatever narrative an African man of Asian appearance should play in western society. I started not really caring so much, not second-guessing myself or my vocals so much, which was a huge hurdle to overcome."

Decca will release Pray For Me I Don’t Fit In on February 18, 2022.
