More Than 600 Artists Join Musicians For Palestine Initiative

Patti Smith, Run The Jewels and Rage Against The Machine are among the signatories

Patti Smith, Run The Jewels, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Thurston Moore and Rage Against The Machine are among more than 600 signatories of a statement of support of Palestinian liberation.

The Musicians For Palestine initiative comes in the wake of ongoing violence against civilians in the Israeli-occupied territory, which has been deemed as some of the most serious in several years. "Today, we speak together and demand justice, dignity and the right to self-determination for the Palestinian people and all who are fighting colonial dispossession and violence across the planet," part of the initiative’s statement reads.

Other musicians who’ve added their name to the campaign include Roger Waters; Questlove; Algiers; The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas; Caterina Barbieri; Deena Abdelwahed; Drew McDowall; Juliana Huxtable; Hiro Kone; Lyra Pramuk; Talib Kweli; Khyam Allami; Nicolás Jaar; Marie Davidson; Pharoahe Monch; Owen Pallett; System Of A Down’s Serj Tankian; and Sarah Davachi.

The Musicians For Palestine initiative follows on from a similar 2018 DJs For Palestine campaign.
