Liverpool club night Circus has been chosen to take part in the UK government’s COVID-19 Event Research Programme (ERP).
It was revealed last month that Liverpool would be the host city for a number of pilot events across April and May, to allow the UK government to monitor the spread of COVID-19 under various circumstances as the country reopens from its current lockdown. Circus will handle the clubbing experiment as part of the ERP, with two 3000-capacity parties scheduled for April 30 and May 1 at Liverpool’s Bramley-Moore Dock Warehouse.
Both events will be ticketed and attendees of both must live in the Liverpool area. Yousef, the DJ that runs Circus, is the only artist confirmed to play so far. You can find a more detailed breakdown of the ERP plans via Liverpool Express.
Attendees of all the events taking place as part of the ERP will be required to return a negative COVID-19 test in order to gain entry. They will all also be tested again after the events to monitor any potential transmission from them taking place.
Clubbing and live music gigs are currently scheduled to return to the UK, without social distancing measures in place, on June 21 under the government’s roadmap out of the recent COVID-19 lockdown. That date may change though, as the government continues to monitor transmission with each phased relaxation of measures.
