Daft Punk Have Split Up

The French duo have called quits on the project after 28 years

French electronic music duo Daft Punk have split after 28 years.

Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo teased the news earlier today in a YouTube video titled ‘Epilogue’, which you can watch abvoe. The clip, which shows one of the duo being blown up, is an excerpt from their 2006 film, Electroma. Pitchfork subsequently confirmed the news of Daft Punk’s split after contacting the duo’s publicist.

Daft Punk formed in Paris in the early ’90s, first honing their sound via a series of rough-edged, hardware-aided cuts such as ‘Rollin’ & Scratchin” and ‘The New Wave’. Their sound soon encompassed influences of classic disco, going on to release four studio albums in Homework, Discovery, Human After All and Random Access Memories.

Over the course of their 28 years together, the duo built up an arsenal of hits such as ‘Around The World’, ‘Da Funk’, ‘One More Time’ and ‘Get Lucky’, while developing an image heavily focused on the robot suits that they donned during live performances.
