Big Dada Relaunches As Label For Black And Minority Ethnic Artists

"Working to amplify Black and racialised artists' voices, Big Dada looks to shift the narrative around this music," a statement shared by the Ninja Tune sub-label reads

UK label Big Dada is relaunching as a "label run by Black, POC & minority ethnic people for Black, POC & minority ethnic artists."

The Ninja Tune sub-label, which launched in 1997, has previously released work by the likes of Hype Williams, Roots Manuva and Young Fathers, and is now shifting its focus exclusively to music produced by Black and minority ethnic musicians.

"Working to amplify Black and racialised artists’ voices, Big Dada looks to shift the narrative around this music, bypassing stereotypes to allow and encourage freedom to express oneself for who they are and want to be," a statement shared by the label says. "Big Dada has a long history and heritage which will be built upon while deepening its cultural identity by supporting and offering resources to a new generation of artists."

A new website has also been set up for the relaunch, including educational and informational resources such as legal advice for artists, a list of Black mental health charities and tips on how to release your music independently.

The label will reveals its next releases soon.
