Liverpool musician Luke Mawdsley, formerly a member of Mugstar, has shared a new track called ‘The River Takes It All’.
The song, which premieres exclusively via tQ above, closes Mawdsley’s forthcoming album, Vulgar Displays Of Affection A slow-burning and unsettling track, it builds gradually into a looming and overwhelming dark crescendo.
The record was written and recorded in Liverpool, where Mawdsley adapted texts and notes into spoken word performances about disorientation and sexuality. He then used those as a guide to create the record’s instrumentals and pitch-shifted vocals.
Vulgar Displays Of Affection is Mawdsley’s second solo album since the end of Mugstar, following on from 2017’s God Unknown-released Obsessive Compulsive.
Maple Death will release Vulgar Displays Of Affection on July 24, 2020.
