Italy’s government is to allow some live music events to return under strict social distancing measures, starting from June 15.
Under the new measures, live music events will have to be fully seated, and every crowd member must wear a mask and be spaced one metre apart. The maximum capacity for indoor events will be 200 people, while outdoor events will have an upper capacity of 1000 people. Many venues and promoters will still be unable to put events on under the new guidelines.
Nightclubs will not be allowed to open yet, with the government ruling forbidding all "activities that take place in dance halls and discotheques and similar places," as DJ Mag Italia reports.
Bars, cafés and restaurants have been allowed to reopen across the country as of May 18, but, again, there are strict social distancing measures in place, including rulings around distance between patrons and the expectation that people wear face masks at all times unless sitting at their own table.
Italy had one of the strictest lockdowns in the world in place until earlier this month, following an outbreak of COVID-19 that has killed more than 32,000 people in the country up to May 20.
