The organisers of Utrecht festival Le Guess Who? have confirmed that the 2020 edition of the event will not take place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The current situation regarding COVID-19 brings with it countless uncertainties within the organisation of the festival, and we feel it would be irresponsible to continue moving forward this year," a statement shared by the festival says. "The safety and well-being of our audience, artists, partners and organisers has always been a priority, and postponing the festival seems the only sensible thing to do, for everyone involved."
Organisers had yet to begin announcing the line-up for this year’s event. The statement adds that since preparations for this year’s event were well underway, programme and line-up updates for the 2021 event will begin in the coming months.
Tickets for Le Guess Who? 2020 will remain valid for the 2021 edition, while the festival is also offering the option to donate the value of the ticket (or a portion) to help the festival press forward amid the financial uncertainty surrounding the pandemic. Ticket holders will also be given the option to claim a full refund with an email containing more information on the options to be sent out in early June.
The next edition of Le Guess Who? will take place from November 11-14, 2021. For more information, head here.
