Genesis P-Orridge has died following a long illness, it was announced this evening (March 14).
The news came from Dais Records, who posted a statement from P-Orridge’s daughters: "Dear friends, family and loving supporters, It is with very heavy hearts that we announce thee passing of our beloved father, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge. S/he had been battling leukaemia for two and a half years and dropped her body early this morning, Saturday 14th March, 2020. S/he will be laid to rest with h/er other half, Jacqueline “Lady Jaye” Breyer who left us in 2007, where they will be re-united."
In the late ’60s, Genesis P-Orridge was a member of COUM Transmissions, a radical art collective based in Hull, England. Following P-Orridge’s move to London with Cosey Fanni Tutti, they were joined by Peter ‘Sleazy’ Christopherson and Chris Carter to create Throbbing Gristle, one of the most significant musical and artistic groups of the 20th century. Following the demise of TG, P-Orridge went on to form Psychic TV and cult/organisation Thee Temple ov Psychick Youth.
