Join Us For The Quietus’ March Social – A Heavy Metal Special!

Author Dan Franklin will be discussing his new book on metal, talking heavy music with other top writers, before two titanic live sets from Mighty Lord Deathman and We Wild Blood at the upcoming Quietus Social!

Join tQ and friends at The Social, London, for the first Quietus Social of the year on March 4, where we’ll be celebrating the release of Dan Franklin’s new book Heavy: How Metal Changes The Way We See The World along with some enormous live music.

Franklin is a music journalist and regular contributor to The Quietus, and his book investigates what defines ‘heavy’ music, and examining a range of artists to assess their cultural and social impact.

As well as signing copies, Dan will discuss the book and talk about some of his experiences writing about heavy music. He’ll be joined by other notable music journalists who will share horror stories from their time reporting on the front lines of heavy metal.

Appearing will be Metal Hammer deputy editor Eleanor Goodman, who has commissioned cover stories and interviewed some of the biggest names in metal, from Metallica to Iron Maiden, as well as Michael Hann, the former music editor of The Guardian who is currently working on a book about the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. Stay tuned for more guests to be announced.

Following that, the evening will close with two mega live sets. The first will be from the ‘ghastly rhythmic electronics’ of Mighty Lord Deathman, and the second from killer noise quartet We Wild Blood, currently working on their second studio album.

The Quietus Social takes place on March 4 at The Social in London. Tickets are only £5 in advance or £6 on the door. You can pick yours up
