Slowthai Involved In Stage Altercation At NME Awards

Videos and reports from the event suggest he sexually harassed comedian Katherine Ryan, who was co-presenting the show, on stage

Slowthai was involved in an altercation with a member of the audience at tonight’s NME Awards in London, shortly after reports suggest he sexually harassed comedian Katherine Ryan on stage.

Videos which have emerged from the event show the rapper touching Ryan, who was co-presenting the show, and making suggestive remarks towards her while accepting an award for his collaboration with Mura Masa, ‘Deal Wiv It’. Ryan responded sarcastically to his repeated advances.

Later in the show, he ended another speech, which he was making after winning an award for ‘Hero of the Year’, by accusing an audience member of ruining his time on stage before throwing his microphone in the direction of the crowd. Reports from the venue suggest that the audience member had called him a "misogynist" following his earlier on-stage interaction with Ryan.

Both slowthai and an audience member then threw drinks at each other, with the rapper subsequently jumping off the stage and into the crowd to fight the audience member. At that point, security intervened and escorted him away. NME says slowthai left the event soon after.

You can see videos from the incident here and here. Slowthai’s representatives are yet to comment on the matter.
