Lyra Pramuk, an operatically-trained vocalist and electronic musician based out of Berlin, is set to release her remarkable debut album, Fountain, next month. Ahead of the LP’s release, tQ is thrilled to be premiering new single ‘Gossip’, which you can take a listen to below.
Like the rest of the album, ‘Gossip’ was recorded entirely using Pramuk’s own voice, which she shapes and structures using electronics.
Fountain‘s name comes from the Czech translation of Pramuk, which means ‘well-spring’ and led the musician to explore the ritual force of drowning, immersion, cleansing and bathing. It was mixed by Pramuk in collaboration with her sound engineer twin brother Ben.
An activist for the queer community, Pramuk’s career has also seen her produce acclaimed collaborations with Holly Herndon and Colin Self and open for Sunn O))) at Unsound in Krakow – a gig that saw her performing through a multi-channel array designed by Ben Frost as she debuted Fountain‘s material.
Fountain is to be released via Iceland’s Bedroom Community on March 20.
