Indie label of the hour Speedy Wunderground have shared their latest release, from fast-rising London trio PVA.
The track, entitled ‘Divine Intervention’, is a banger to match the very best of the SW discography, and premiering exclusively with tQ above.
PVA consist of Josh Baxter (keys and vocals), Louis Satchell (drums) and Ella Harris (vocals, keys and percussion), who formed at a house party two years ago.
"’Divine Intervention’ is about getting lost in memories and past experiences, coming to resolution within yourself and growing from these experiences to be a fuller, more rounded version of yourself," says Harris.
"It’s very cathartic being able to contrast these personal, quite sad at times lyrics against such an upbeat track – the euphoria of dance music cures all."
"They completely blew me away" says Speedy Wunderground co-runner Pierre Hall, of seeing the band at Green Man Festival. "I’d heard about them – but heard very little. I was won over instantly. I loved the chemistry between them. And especially with Ella. She was completely magnetic."
The track is out on 7" vinyl, limited to 250 copies, on 17 January, and receives a digital release on 20 December 2020. To pre-order it, click here.
The band also play three live shows in London over the next few weeks, a support slot with A Certain Ratio at Subterania on 11 December, then two Brixton Windmill shows on New Year’s Eve and 17 January respectively.
It’s the 33rd Speedy Wunderground single. A compilation of all the singles they released in 2019 is also out now, featuring the likes of Squid, Black Midi, and Black Country, New Road.
