Last month, Lee "Scratch" Perry announced his second LP of 2019, Heavy Rain, seeing him yet again team up with longtime collaborator Adrian Sherwood.
A notable collaborator on the new album is Brian Eno, who features on the track ‘Here Come the Warm Dreads’. You can hear it exclusively above.
Speaking about the track, Adrian Sherwood says: "When we approached Brian about working on a track he didn’t hesitate and said he would happily do something with Lee "Scratch" Perry. We worked together on a quick dub version of the track and took what was a crazy tune even further out there. I have always wanted to do something with Brian and hopefully there will be more opportunity in the future."
Heavy Rain is presented as a companion to Perry’s last album, Rainford, which came out in June. The new LP sees Perry and Sherwood reworking material from that album. ‘Here Come the Warm Dreads’, specifically, is a rework of Rainford track ‘Makumba Rock’ and takes its title from a callback to the title of Eno’s own debut solo album, Here Come the Warm Jets.
Heavy Rain will be released digitally and on vinyl via On-U Sound on December 6.
