Ryuichi Sakamoto Issues ‘Disciple’ Warning

"If you meet or see someone claiming to be Ryuichi's disciple, please know this person is being untruthful"

Ryuichi Sakamoto has shared a warning about someone or multiple people making fraudulent claims in China about being his ‘disciple’.

"We have received a few reports from fans in China that have become aware of individual(s) claiming to be disciples of Ryuichi Sakamoto," a message shared across his social media accounts said. "This person seems to be creating trouble for Ryuichi’s fans there. If you meet or see someone claiming to be Ryuichi’s disciple, please know this person is being untruthful."

It’s not quite clear where these claims have emerged from and how they’ve manifested, but Sakamoto and his team are clear that nobody has been enlisted to act as his disciple.

It was recently revealed that Sakamoto’s debut album, Thousand Knives Of, from 1978, would be reissued by Wewantsounds.
