Ryuichi Sakamoto’s Debut Solo Album To Be Reissued

Reissue label Wewantsounds will oversee the vinyl reissue of Thousand Knives Of

Ryuichi Sakamoto’s debut solo album, Thousand Knives Of is being reissued on vinyl.

The re-release will be done by reissue label Wewantsounds, which has also re-released albums by Alice Clark, Hiroshi Sato and Bob Marley & The Wailers. The label’s press text describes Thousand Knives Of as "a reflection on how synthesiser technology might come to change the face of music".

The album was originally recorded and released in 1978 and Wewantsounds’ reissue marks the first time it’ll be made available outside of Japan since 1982. The album predates the release of Yellow Magic Orchestra’s first LP and features Sakamoto’s former YMO bandmate Haruomi Hosono as well as Japanese dub producer Pecker.

Wewantsounds’ reissue of Thousand Knives Of will be released on November 8. It’s been remastered from the original tapes for this new edition. More information can be found here.
