Tuareg group Tinariwen have shared the video for ‘Kel Tinawen’, the latest taste of their forthcoming album Amadjar.
The track, which you can hear above, features Cass McCombs, and covers the subject of the Tuareg rebellion and its detractors.
The new album is released on 6 September, and was recorded in a camper van the band converted into a DIY studio in southern Morocco.
Then, they were joined by Noura Mint Seymali and her husband guitarist Jeiche Ould Chigaly for a two-week camp in the desert around Nouakchott in Mauritania to record additional music for the LP.
A number of Western musicians also contributed to the album once Tinariwen had finished recording, with the likes of the Bad Seeds’ Warren Ellis, Sunn O)))’s Stephen O’Malley joining Cass McCombs on the album’s cast.
Tinariwen will play a number of UK and Ireland shows to support the release, which are as follows:
