CTM Confirms 2020 Theme

"We are living through liminal times," say the organisers of the Berlin festival

CTM has revealed that 2020’s festival will take place under the theme of ‘Liminal’.

"We are living through liminal times," says a statement issued by the festival. "We bear witness to social and technological shifts, pushed and pulled by numerous processes of transformation. Due to cultural, ecological, geographical, and political negotiations, we find ourselves stuck between an unsustainable past and contestable futures."

The festival’s organisers say that they have "hopes of stimulating a critical discussion of our present and

possible futures" with next year’s line-up and discourse programme. The statement continues: "CTM 2020 examines the potentials of experimental politics in liminal spaces that, for now, must make do without tangible utopias."

The festival will begin announcing the line-up for next year’s event in October. As ever, it will take place across multiple Berlin venues, running from January 24 – February 2. Next year’s event marks CTM’s 21st year.

As usual, the organisers are seeking proposals for installation and discourse works related to its 2020 theme. Find more information on that here.
