LISTEN: New SØS Gunver Ryberg

Denmark's SØS Gunver Ryberg shares the opening track to her new record for Shifted's Avian imprint

Following on from an outstanding outing on Paula Temple’s Noise Manifesto label last summer in the form of the SOLFALD EP, SØS Gunver Ryberg will next week debut on Shifted’s Avian label.

The Danish producer’s first record for the label sees her channel the harsh kicks and unrivalled energy of her Noise Manifesto record into a mini-LP titled Entangled. From that record above, you can hear the opening track ‘Palacelike Timescale of Black’.

The track sits in the more experimental reaches of techno, coloured by fits of gurgling noise and swirling, drone-like synths that dance around brutal, convulsive drums.

Speaking about the track herself, the producer offered the following quote: "Your body is forced into inverse gravity while you are surrounded by majestic arching structures of sound waves from different times. Nature’s diversity is under threat. How do we continue shaping our world?"

Entangled sees SØS Gunver Ryberg drawing on her past work on records for Noise Manifesto and Contort to produce six ‘club-focused’ pieces which sit alongside four shorter, more abstract cuts that no doubt share some lineage to her extensive work as a sound and installation artist.

You can find out more about the producer by reading our 2018 interview here. Avian will release Entangled on June 28.
