Jane Weaver’s fourth studio album The Fallen By Watch Bird is being reissued to mark its 15th anniversary.
Originally released on Weaver’s own label Bird Records, the new edition will be made available via Fire Records, and will mark the first instalment of a new reissue series that will explore Weaver’s early back catalogue across 2026. An expanded double-vinyl edition will include the full original album, in addition to companion record The Watchbird Alluminate, which saw Weaver reinterpret songs from The Fallen By Watch Bird with the help of Demdike Stare, The Focus Group and others.
In a statement, Weaver said: The Fallen By Watch Bird was my first foray into the world of psych folk, [and] it happened purely by chance when experimenting with acoustic instrumentation and heavily effected synthesisers creating these big soundscapes to work with. Eventually a narrative and concept were formed inspired by European folk tales I’d seen on TV as a child.
“I invited other friends into the studio including Lisa and Es from the Welsh language folk group 9Bach, Wendy Flower and Susan Christie… it became this sonic sisterhood! It was all very natural, and 15 years later it’s a joy to be able to release the album as a special deluxe edition with its companion record The Watchbird Alluminate.
Weaver will also link up with Septieme Soeur, the group with which she recorded The Fallen By Watch Bird, for a series of live shows during which they will perform the album in its entirety for the first time ever. The band will include harpist – Serafina Steer; guitarist and singer – Emma Tricca; Welsh folk artist Lisa Jen; and guitarist Joel Nicholson. They will play live in Glasgow, Liverpool, Bristol, London, Nottingham, Kendel and Manchester through April 2026. Find more information on the shows here.
