Hüsker Dü Live Recordings from 1985 Form Focus of New Box Set

The 4xLP 1985: The Miracle Year is set for release in November

A collection of live recordings dating back to 1985 by Hüsker Dü will form the focus of a new box set being released by Numero Group.

The 4xLP 1985: The Miracle Year is chiefly centred around the recording of a full live set from January 30, 1985. The recording from a gig at Minneapolis venue First Avenue has been restored especially for the release by Beau Sorenson. Also included in the package are 20 more live tracks from the same year, as well as a deluxe booklet outlining the year of work that went into the band’s 1985 tour.

The recordings capture the Minneapolis punk band amid one of their peak eras, having released classic album Zen Arcade the year before, and followed it with New Day Rising in January 1985. The tapes featuring the recordings survived a 2011 house fire that destroyed a portion of the band’s archival material.

1985: The Miracle Year follows a previous reissue box set of Hüsker Dü material by Numero Group, in the form of 2017’s Savage Young Dü. That release focused on the band’s early recordings and live tapes from their first three years.

Numero Group will release 1985: The Miracle Year on November 7, 2025.
