Matmos Announce New Album

Matmos' new album is made entirely from sounds sourced from plastic objects

Matmos have announced a new album, titled Plastic Anniversary.

The album sees the duo once again return to the limitations of their previous album Ultimate Care II, which was crafted entirely from sounds sourced from a washing machine. This time, their focus is plastic objects, with the album being put together, a press release says, as a celebration of their "own anniversary as a couple" while exploring "the world’s relationship to plastic."

Amongst the objects used to make the album are "Bakelite dominos, Styrofoam coolers, police riot shields, polyethylene waste containers, PVC panpipes, pinpricks of bubble wrap, silicone gel breast implants and synthetic human fat."

You can watch a trailer for the album above, ahead of its release on March 15 via Thrill Jockey.
