LISTEN: More New Laibach

Laibach release their wonderfully weird version of ‘My Favorite Things’ from their upcoming cover album of The Sound of Music.

Slovenian avant-garde outfit Laibach have revealed the latest taste of their cover of the soundtrack to 1965’s The Sound Of Music.

First conceived following Laibach’s infamous invitation to perform in North Korea in 2015, ‘My Favorite Things’ follows lead single and title track, ‘The Sound of Music’.

These bold reinterpretations are among several songs from the 1965 musical of the same name that Laibach have re-recorded, to be released November 23 via Mute.

The video, edited by Tomislav Gang and Luka Karlin, stitches together live shots taken from Laibach’s premiere of the album at Steirischer Herbst festival in Graz, Austria in suitably strange fashion, mixing in a procession of images of ‘cream coloured ponies and crisp apple strudels’.
