DJ Mag Rebrands as Quarterly Physical Publication

Each edition will include three different cover stars, on even rotation on newsstand shelves

DJ Mag has announced a significant shake-up to its physical magazine, which will see it shift from a monthly publication to a quarterly one from January 2025 onwards.

The new iteration of the magazine will now remain in distribution for three months, and its production will be increased to reflect the quarterly switch. The focus going forward, DJ Mag said, was on creating “a highly-collectible, heavyweight edition that meets the demands of modern readers while continuing as the flagship focal point of the global DJ Mag brand”.

Further changes made to the magazine with its move to quarterly editions include increased pagination and improved page quality, as well as a rise in the use of original photography. Each cover will be produced in matte-laminate, and each edition will include three cover stars on even rotation on newsstand shelves. All three full-length cover features will be included in every edition of the magazine regardless of who is on the cover of a particular copy.

In a statement, DJ Mag Editor Carl Loben said: “Along with the rest of the team, I’m excited to be bringing DJ Mag into its next phase of evolution. Electronic dance music is a perpetually exciting movement, forever changing, and is now bigger globally than ever.

“As the flagship publication, this new quarterly edition will allow us to increase focus on the in-depth, discerning, internationally relevant long-form features DJ Mag has specialised in for many years. I can’t wait to get cracking!”

Launched in May 1991, DJ Mag is one of the leading publications for electronic music, and originally began life as a fortnightly edition. It later shifted to a monthly magazine at the dawn of the internet era, and has gone on to become a global brand across its website and social media channels.
