Book On Laibach’s History To Be Released

Gesamtkunstwerk Laibach is a new book examining the music and imagery of Laibach over more than three decades

A new book titled Gesamtkunstwerk Laibach will look at the symbolism wrapped up in the work of Laibach.

Tracing back to the group’s origins in post-Tito Yugoslavia in the early 1980s and detailing their history up until the release of their 2017 album Also sprach Zarathustra, the book, authored by Uwe Schütte, Daniela Kirschstein and Johann Georg Lughofer, will look at the symbolism in the group’s choice of imagery over the years as well as their frequently shifting musical style.

It will be launched on October 3 with a panel discussion at London’s IKLECTIK, featuring Schütte, Alexei Monroe (who has previously written a book on Laibach), Simon Bell and Michael N. Goddard, another frequent writer on the group’s work. You can find out more information on that, and get tickets, here. The book is published on September 30.

The group recently announced their new album The Sound Of Music which is out on November 23.
