SOPHIE is the Focus of Today’s Google Doodle

A video animation featuring her 2018 track 'Immaterial' marks what would have been the late artist's 38th birthday

Today’s Google Doodle across a number of worldwide territories celebrates the life and work of SOPHIE.

Marking what would have been the late artist’s 38th birthday, clicking through on the Doodle takes people to a 55-second animation set to SOPHIE’s 2018 track ‘Immaterial’. It was created in collaboration with her family, and can be accessed via Google’s homepage.

“Music and the future were always at the centre of Sophie’s world,” the artist’s family shared. “From a very young age, Sophie was taken to music festivals and raves, and it was the electronic sounds and futuristic rhythms of mainly underground dance music that really appealed to her.”

They continued: “The future has always been a big part of Sophie, and we hope Sophie continues to be a big part of the future. As always with Sophie, exactly what comes next and what shape it takes remains to be seen. One thing is for sure, there’s a lot more still to come.”

A posthumous album of material made by SOPHIE before her passing in 2021 will be released later this month.
