Independent record shop Rough Trade is opening a new branch in Central London next month.
Situated on Denmark Street in London’s West End, the store will be split across two levels and will also host events at neighbouring venue HERE. It joins a number of music instrument stores and venues on the famous music street that has long been dubbed Tin-Pan Alley.
“We’re thrilled to bring Rough Trade to London’s iconic Denmark Street, a location that holds such a profound place in the city’s music history,” said Rough Trade’s UK managing director Lawrence Montgomery in a statement. “Our new store will house an extensive selection of curated vinyl across all genres, as well as a specialist book selection and exclusive merchandise.”
Rough Trade Denmark Street will be the retailer’s seventh UK branch, and fourth in London, with others situated in Liverpool, Bristol and Nottingham. The first Rough Trade record shop was opened in London’s Ladbroke Grove in 1976, and its in-house record label, Rough Trade Records, which still runs today, launched two years later.
