Gazelle Twin Reveals ‘Black Dog’ Remix Album

'Shadow Dogs' takes in reinterpretations of the record by the likes of BEAK> and Keeley Forsyth, among others

Gazelle Twin is releasing a remix album to accompany her 2023 record Black Dog.

Due out in October, the seven-track release, titled Shadow Dogs, takes in reworks of cuts from last year’s LP by the likes of BEAK>, Gary Numan, Keeley Forsyth and Penelope Trappes, among others.

In a statement about Shadow Dogs, Gazelle Twin said: “When making Black Dog, a persistent obsession I had was the link between audiovisual tech and the nature of ghosts. I thought about Edison’s Ghost Machine, early EVP experiments, and the ‘ghosting’ of transmitted images on the first televisions. All recordings are ghosts of sorts, and so came the idea of inviting musicians that I really admire, to create ghost or shadow versions of these songs, and together form a new pack – Shadow Dogs.”

The first cut to be shared from the remix album is BEAK>’s take on ‘Fear Keeps Us Alive’, which you can listen to below. “We’ve attempted to do it as if BEAK> were playing live on stage with [Gazelle Twin], and hope you like it,” the band’s Billy Fuller said.

Invada will release Shadow Dogs on October 18, 2024.
