UK producer Xylitol, real name Catherine Backhouse, has shared details of her first release for Planet Mu, an album called Anemones.
Taking in 11 tracks, the record aims to find connections between vintage electronics and current club music, and takes early jungle and UK garage as its reference points. Speaking about the record in a press statement, Backhouse said the album “feels like something that’s simultaneously still and ancient, yet propulsive and ecstatic”.
You can listen to the near 10-minute lead cut ‘Moebius’, centred around classic jungle breaks and serene arpeggiated melodies, below.
The release of Anemones will follow on from Xylitol’s appearance at this year’s Acid Horse festival, which takes place at Wiltshire’s The Barge Inn from May 24 to 26.
Planet Mu will release Anemones on July 5, 2024.
