Body/Head, the duo of Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon and guitarist and improvisational noise musician Bill Nace, have announced a new five track album, titled The Switch. Above, you can check out lead track ‘You Don’t Need’.
The new track, ominous and awash with squalling feedback, features on what will be Body/Head’s second studio album following their 2013 debut Coming Apart and a 2016 live record called No Waves. Live performance played a role in the composition of the new work, with some ideas explored in the duo’s improvisational shows becoming the foundations of certain songs recorded in-studio.
The band will tour the US this summer with support from fellow experimental partnership Gunn-Truscinski Duo. The Switch is out 13 July on Matador.
