LISTEN: Music From The Arcadia Soundtrack

Invada Records share four tracks from the soundtrack for new film Arcadia, including music from Anne Briggs, Adrian Utley and Will Gregory

Arcadia is the new film from BAFTA award-winning Scottish director Paul Wright, with the film focused around looking into our complex connection to the land we live in. Combing through 100 film clips from the last 100 years, lifted from the BFI National Archive and regional archives around the UK, the film explores the changing seasons and the ways in which they affect our relationship with the landscapes we find ourselves in.

Wright enlisted the talents of Portishead’s Adrian Utley and Goldfrapp’s Will Gregory to put together the film’s soundtrack, and premiering above are four tracks by the pair from that soundtrack, one of which – ‘Lowlands’ – also features folk singer Anne Briggs.

‘Lowlands’ places Briggs’ folk singing centre stage accompanied by sweeping, expressive instrumentation from Utley and Gregory, who’ve worked together in the past. The sound design across the record also incorporates found sound and folds in electronic, classical and folk influences. The artwork for the album has been created by frequent Radiohead collaborator Stanley Donwood.

Invada Records will release the soundtrack album for Arcadia digitally on June 22. It will be made available on CD and vinyl soon after.
