Following on from various 12" releases in recent years on labels such as Perc Trax and Leyla, Manni Dee has confirmed details of his debut album, The Residue, which is due next month on the in-house label of Berlin club Tresor.
Streaming exclusively above is a second taste of that album, following on from lead track ‘Smut’, in the form of ‘Drips’, a bruising, atmospheric cut which sits somewhere between the industrial-edged techno and halftime drum & bass of labels like Samurai Music and Osiris Music, the latter of which he has previously released a record through.
The Residue was inspired in part by Manni Dee’s home base of London and its living conditions, particularly, as a press release explains, looking at "how social cleansing, inequality and the political situation generally – and on a holistic scale – informs internal and external locus of control".
Manni Dee will premiere a live show to back the album this summer with dates yet to be announced. The Residue will be released on vinyl and digitally on June 15. Read our 2017 interview with the producer here.
