Jenny Hval has announced details of a new EP, entitled The Long Sleep. Above, you can listen to one of the tracks from the EP, ‘Spells’.
The EP is the first solo release from Hval since her 2016 album Blood Bitch, and will see release via Sacred Bones Records. Hval recorded the EP with longtime collaborator Håvard Volden and producer Lasse Marhaug, along with a cast of jazz musicians, made up of Kyrre Laastad on percussion, Anja Lauvdal on piano, Espen Reinertsen on saxophone and Eivind Lønning on trumpet.
The Long Sleep is set for release on May 25, and precedes Hval’s debut novel, Paradise Rot, which will be published by Verso on October 2. Hval plays St. John on Bethnal Green Church in London on June 5. You can pre-order the EP here.
