Fiddle and recorder player Laura Cannell has announced the dates of her Modern Ritual tour, taking place across England and Wales this spring. "Modern Ritual is a night of new performances exploring ideas of ritual through music and words, evoking real and fictional landscapes. Modern Ritual is ancient, modern, experimental, real, fictional, personal, folkloric. It explores human and mechanical rituals, failure of ritual" says Cannell, who performs on all dates. Also on the bill is Charles Hayward of This Is Not This Heat performing his mesmerising 30 minute drum roll, Hoofus’ bashed gamelan electronics, and Quietus writers Luke Turner and Jennifer Allan. Turner will be reading on the the sexualised landscape and how walking as ritual isn’t always a guaranteed healer , while Allan presents the history of the foghorn in 30 interrupted acts. The Modern Ritual crew will be joined in Liverpool by Ex-Easter Island Head, and Swansea by Rhodri Davies.
