Next month sees the release of the first album from Creep Show, the melding of John Grant and Wrangler, the group made up of Stephen Mallinder, Benge and Phil Winter.
Ahead of the release of Mr Dynamite, the band have now shared a Chris Turner-directed video for ‘Modern Parenting’ lifted from the album, which you can watch above.
"I wanted the video to employ a kind of twisted take on 1980s ‘body swap’ movies such as Big and Vice Versa," says Turner. "In ‘Modern Parenting’ the adult acts up like a delinquent kid, as the child looks on in disappointment, until their roles finally begin to mutate and distort."
Speaking about the track itself, Mallinder says: "Upside down, inside out, a converse family in disarray… Welcome to the modern world!"
The track will feature on Mr Dynamite upon its release via Bella Union on March 16. The album was recorded in Cornwall with Benge’s extensive collection of drum machines and synthesisers put to full use by every member of Creep Show. "I do like theatre of the absurd and some of it is that, but most of it is just having fun," says John Grant about the process of working on the album. "We did a lot of laughing and just had a blast doing it."
