Hear a stunning new cut from a new compilation album on Injazero, in aid of Mind

This Friday (February 9), modern classical, ambient and experimental specialists Injazero Records will release their first label compilation in aid of mental health charity Mind, titled INJACOMP001.

Above, you can hear the exclusive premiere of Vancouver-based bowed guitarist and trumpeter C. Diab’s stunning contribution to the record, ‘For Another Body I Guess’.

He said of the track: “The piece was improvised, track by track, without listening back. I would record a new instrument in the same key to see how it could fall into place on its own. It was recorded in one day, while I was sick with the flu and in a medicine induced trance during a winter storm warning. The end, two acoustic guitars weaving in and out of one another, was recorded onto micro cassette 15 years ago, when I was 15, a friend and I just spending the night with drinks and instruments.”

It’s the second track to appear from the record, following ‘Pax Romana’ by Heathen Rites, the side project of Throwing Snow. The record also features C. Diab’s Injazero stablemates Heinali and Matt Emery, as well as Eomac, Sieren, Mike Lazarev, Lucy Claire and more.

C. Diab will also be releasing a full-length LP of his own this spring. Exit Rumination is due on Injazero on March 30, and you can hear the first track from it, ‘Butterflies’, below.
