The team behind Bradford’s Fuse Art Space have announced a series of masterclasses for 2018, taking in contributions from the likes of Laraaji, Gavin Bryars and Eli Keszler.
The organisation was founded by a group of musicians, artists and activists who decided that radical action would be required in order to change the way various parts of the art world educate and support others, as well as progress. With help from a loan from the Arts Impact Fund, they bought a run-down hotel on a mountainside just close to the border between France and Spain, and following renovations, they will begin using the space, called CAMP, in April as the location of a programme of arts and activism taking in the names above plus more.
Laraaji will host a masterclass on deep listening, meditation and laughter, while Gavin Bryars’ masterclass will naturally focus on modern composition. Eli Keszler will look at experimental performance, while sound artist Christina Kubisch will give a masterclass on searching for the world’s hidden sounds.
Elsewhere, there’s video and installation art advice from Turner Prize winner Laure Prouvost and lessons on experimental sound recording with Cabaret Voltaire founding member Chris Watson.
