The Bug has announced a new two-track single featuring guest vocals from Flowdan, Killa P and Irah. Above, you can check out one of the two tracks, the Flowdan-featuring ‘Bad’.
The release sees The Bug continue his series of singles connecting with various heavyweight grime MCs following on from last year’s ‘Box’ / ‘Iceman’ which featured Riko Dan and D Double E.
Kevin Martin put together the instrumental for ‘Bad’ through manipulating a single Soviet drum machine layering the various sounds that he could get from it. "No other components were used in the making of this backing track," says a press release accompanying the announcement of the record. "No basslines applied. Vox and beatbox only."
The record’s flipside, ‘Get Out The Way’, sees Martin team up with Killa P for the first time since their now classic Hyperdub-released 2007 single ‘Skeng’.
Both tracks will be available digitally via Ninja Tune on November 17 with a physical 12" release following on December 8. The Bug plays London’s Village Underground on November 18, alongside guests Flowdan, Killa P and Lady Chann. You can find more details on that show here.
