Björk has shared the video for her latest single ‘The Gate’, the first track to be revealed from her upcoming album, entitled Utopia.
The video, which you can watch above, was debuted over the weekend as part of a series of screenings at London’s The Store Studios. It’s directed by long-time collaborator Andrew Thomas Huang, and features creative direction by Björk, Alessandro Michele and James Merry.
Huang describes the video as the "first glimpse into Björk’s utopia," adding "the doorway lies within the wound from Vulnicura, which now appears transformed into a prismatic portal channeled between the chests of two lovers. Not lovers in the quotidian romantic sense, but in a broader cosmological way."
Utopia is due out in November and has previously been described by Björk as her "Tinder record". Speaking further about the record, Björk has previously said: "The last album, we sort of call it ‘hell’ — it was like divorce. So we are doing paradise now. Utopia."
