Stacian is the alias of Oakland-based artist Dania Luck, who has been a mainstay of the Bay Area’s underground electronic music and minimal wave scene for almost a decade.
Her debut for Glasgow’s Night School Records, entitled Person L, arrives five years on from her debut LP and comes following only a few early releases, the new record presenting her biggest statement to date.
‘Telephonix’, which you can check out via the video above, sees Luck move away from the darker cold wave sounds that filled her first record those five years ago, the track tapping into a more playful mood through banging, game soundtrack-like synths and driving kick drums. The video, put together by Laura Callier, gives off a similarly uncouth temperament centred around a seemingly demonic telephone.
