Miskatonic Institute Of Horror Stories Seminars

Four seminars will take place between September and December on a range of topics within the pantheon of horror

The Miskatonic Institute Of Horror Studies will return to London arts venue The Horse Hospital for a new term of film seminars this year.

The programme will host an event each month from September until December, launching on September 14 with ‘Virgins & Vampires: Gothic Damsels And Final Girls In The Cinema Of Jean Rollin’ a re-examination of Rollin’s work from a female perspctive.

The hosted by Miskatonic London co-director and Electric Sheep Magazine editor Virginie Sélavy and journalist Marcelle Perks, both of whom are contributors to a new book Lost Girls: The Phantasmagorical Cinema Of Jean Rollin.

On October 12 the film critic Kim Newman will host ‘Video Dungeon: How To Talk About Psychotronic Cinema’, as well as launching his new book Video Dungeon.

Nag Vladermesky, the founder of the London International Animation Festival, will deliver ‘Into The Dark: The Monsters And Nightmare Of Horror Animation’ on November 9. He’ll come armed with some of the most hellish clips from the festival’s 14 year history.

Finally, December 14 will see ‘Yuletide Terror: Christmas Horror On Film And Television’, hosted by Stephen Thrower and Derek Johnston to celebrate the release of a new book of the same name. A new Christmas horror film by Sean Hogan, We Always Find Ourselves In The Sea will also be shown at the event.

Tickets for each event cost £10 in advance or £11 on the door, with concessions available for £8. A ticket gaining access to all four events can be purchased for £35. For more information, click here.
