Telefon Tel Aviv, now solely comprising Joshua Eustis following the death of Charles Cooper in 2009, has shared the first new piece of music from the project in eight years.
The track, entitled ‘Something Akin To Lust’, is the first new piece of music to be released from Telefon Tel Aviv since the death in 2009 of Charles Cooper. You can hear the track above.
It will be made available from May 26, both digitally and physically, as part of the debut release from new cross-disciplinary label 79Ancestors. The record it features on, entitled Territories, is billed by the label as a "soundtrack to imaginary worlds". The physical release will come in the form of a vinyl LP bundled with a custom Virtual Reality headset and free 79Ancestors companion app.
There are a total of eight tracks on the record and each of them come with their own VR world. The companion world created for ‘Something Akin to Lust’ is directed by New York-based artist Timothy Saccenti and features character illustrations by Steve Teeple, famed for his work with Flying Lotus. This collaboration will be available via the app from June. For more information, head here.
