M.I.A. Publicly Asks Radiohead To Play Meltdown

She acknowledged the move was a "long shot"

With news trickling through earlier this month that M.I.A. would be curating this year’s edition of Meltdown Festival at London’s Southbank Centre, she’s taken to her role rather publicly.

Writing on Twitter yesterday, she sent a message to Radiohead, reading: "I know it’s a long shot but I live for long shots, please come play Meltdown." The festival takes place from June 9-18, while Radiohead have a series of European tour dates lined up across the summer.

For this year’s edition of Meltdown, M.I.A. says she’s aiming at "putting on a musical week that shows different types of music which have inspired each other to exist. Genres that support other genres, redefining the concept of a melting pot. Respect the history, don’t live in it. I plan to bring together music’s best forward thinkers who have contributed to all our lives. When music acts as inspiration, it’s boundary-less."

No acts have yet been announced, but you can find more information and get tickets here.
